Frequently Asked Questions

What is a GLP-1 agonist?

GLP-1 agonists a revolutionary class of weight-loss drugs that have been scientifically proven to help even the most stubborn bodies lose as much as 15% of their body weight. Originally developed to treat type-2 diabetes, these drugs work by increasing insulin production while slowing digestion—the combination of which is purported to make patients feel satiated more easily than without taking them (individual results may vary).

How do I take GLP-1 agnonist shots?

There are two ways to take GLP-1s. The most common way is a weekly subcutaneous shot where the user pinches the skin around the abdomen a injects themselves just below the skin’s surface with a short needle, similar to how diabetics inject insulin. The second method is a daily sublingual tablet taken 30 minutes before eating breakfast, which is placed under the tongue and left to melt. Patients often find the weekly injections easier because they are less frequent (once a week) and require less lifestyle modification than the daily tablets.

Which GLP-1 delivery method produces better results, injections or pills?

The short answer is injections. Studies have shown that people taking the weekly shot lost approximately 13% more than the control group, whereas the daily pills only resulted in 7% additional weight loss over the control group. Typical reasons for taking the pills over the injections include needle phobias and drug-supply issues.

How do I get GLP-1 weight loss shots?

The easiest and fastest way to get GLP-1s is through a telehealth provider who can assess you from the comfort of your home. There are three basic steps for any telehealth provider:

1.) Qualification or intake survey - Fill out a short survey with your basic health history to screen for any disqualifying criteria, such as renal issues, eating disorders and so forth.

2.) Healthcare Provider Assessment - Meet with a healthcare provider—doctor, nurse practitioner or physician’s assistant—who’s licensed in your state to be assessed for treatment based on medical history. He or she may also order lab work if you haven’t done any recently. After reviewing labs, he or she will prescribe drugs and have the GLP-1s shipped to your house. If GLP-1s aren't the right fit, there are other drugs providers can often prescribe to achieve similar results.

3.) Begin Treatment - Once you’ve received your prescription, you will begin taking via the dosing schedule provided. GLP-1 dosage ramps up over the course of 4-6 months, after which you will begin the “maintenance” dosage that stays consistent until you’ve reached your desired outcome.
